[Overview]The largest prefecture that is uniquely distinguished by its cool and dry climate, differentiates its viticulture scene from the mainland of Japan – Honshu, creates comfortable environment for the grape varieties originated from the northern region of Europe such as Germany and Austria. In these days, in overall Hokkaido it is highly significant by increasing the production of Pinot Noir.
Production is concentrated in key areas – from the middle to the western districts meanwhile the industry has been growing in the south eastern area.
